Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known by her stage name Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and actress Perry's commercial breakthrough came once she released her first mainstream studio album One of the Boys (2008). This was proceeded by the release of her first single "I Kissed a Girl".Perry is known for her unconventional style of dress. It is often humorous, bright in color, and reminiscent of different decades, and she frequently uses fruit-shaped accessories, mainly watermelon, as part of her outfits. Perry's second studio album Teenage Dream was released on August 24, 2010, in the United States. It topped the Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales of 192,000 units. The album has since sold over two million copies in the US, being certified Platinum by the RIAA. It was preceded by the May release of its lead single, titled "California Girls" featuring rapper Snoop Dogg, which picked atop the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive weeks.
